The stroke rehabilitation programme at PYONG Rehabilitation

Cared for by a rehabilitation medicine team, with advanced technology and therapy, in the centre of Bangkok

Why choose PYONG Rehabilitation?

People who have had a stroke often face problems with speech, movement and control of the body. Our programme is designed by rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to plan treatment for the individual, using technology to train walking, train muscles and train communication, all in one place at PYONG Rehabilitation Center, 11th floor, Gaysorn Tower (BTS Chidlom)

Exoskeleton

Symptoms commonly seen after a stroke

  • Weakness or paralysis of an arm or leg, affecting movement
  • Problems with balance and steadiness when walking
  • Unclear or difficult speech (dysarthria)
  • Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)
  • Changes in memory and perception
  • Pain from muscle rigidity or cramping

How care works at PYONG Rehabilitation

1. A full assessment

Rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists assess muscle capacity, posture, speech and swallowing, and perception, to identify what needs rehabilitating

2. Planning rehabilitation for the individual

Goals are set together with the patient and the family, covering movement, speech, swallowing and activities of daily living (ADL), along with how often and for how long treatment runs, coordinating with dietitians, psychiatrists and other specialists as needed

3. Therapy with technology and hands-on training

  • Walking and balance training: a walking robot suit, a balance platform, VR balance training
  • Muscle stimulation: neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), peripheral magnetic stimulation (PMS)
  • Occupational therapy for the hand and arm: robot and VR hand training, gamification sensors
  • Speech and swallowing training: speech and language therapy, electrical stimulation of the swallowing muscles (NMES)

4. Building the skills of daily life (ADL)

Practice in bathing, dressing, eating and activities around the home, using step-by-step technique and an environment set up for safety

5. Educating and supporting the family

Progress is shared, along with how to help and how to arrange the home, and the behavioural changes that support results outside the clinic
